Michigan Trip Update

Just a quick update today!  Colt is doing great in therapy (progress is slow but he's already saying new words and is much more confident imitating.)  His schedule is pretty intense, but we're doing fun stuff when we can.  He even found time to squirt down a grandma in white pants at the spray park (I was mortified).  Hey, that's what she gets for walking into the line of fire!

This little guy is six months old today: (crazy right?!)

He's getting big, but not too big to enjoy a impromptu dance party with mommy.

Saturday we went to Greenfield Village.  Colt got to see a real roundhouse and ride on a steam engine.  He had a blast despite the heat and I enjoyed watching the model T's putter by while ragtime music filled the streets.  I am such a geek when it comes to that stuff!  I could have stayed all day!

Sunday I snuck in some "me time" and escaped for a MUCH NEEDED pedicure.  Check out this sad state of affairs:

I can't believe how fast time is passing by.  We're already into our second week.  It has been such a great experience.  We've fallen in love with Kaufman Children's Center and Michigan and we're thoroughly enjoying all the time we get to spend together as a family.  It's going to be hard to come home to our usual routines!  Cooper isn't babbling yet - so something tells me this won't be our last trip. Deja vu all over again!  At least we'll know what to expect, right?

What about you?  What are you up to on your summer vacation?

  2. Once again, I have total shoe envy. Le sigh. :)

I don't know much about apraxia (just what you've put here and I looked up the SPEAK conference). I'm curious about sign language - do you have Colton doing sign language, too? And is apraxia inherited? Are the odds high that Cooper would have it, too? Totally love the name Cooper, by the way. ;)

Sorry for all of the questions - I'm just intrigued! :)

So glad you guys are having a good time!!! Loving the Michigan pictures!

    1. Colten does do some sign language. Right now we're working on scripting (he can imitate now which is a big step) so every word is broken down and put into sentences. For example if he wants an icepop. I have him repeat after me "Ah - wah - iccccce-pop." They think it is genetic - my husband's niece (so Colt's first cousin) is apraxic and autistic.. so Cooper could have it too. It really is too early to tell - but he just reminds me so much of Colt at that age, so it's hard not to worry. Thought you'd like Cooper lol :) The good news is Nancy Kaufman told us today that she thinks he will be a normal speaker one day. Boy was that good to hear!
