Weekend Wardrobe
I know, I know, I know...it's Wednesday. What I wore this weekend is old news. In my defense, I've been working on a piece for a book that needs to be in to my editor by July 1. So yeah, blogging is on the back burner until I get it done.
With that said, I am LOVING writing again. I know I write my blog, but this is different. It's like reuniting with a new friend. My dining room table is covered in books and journal articles, highlighters are out, and notes are being taken. It.feels.so.good.
But I digress, and this is after all, a fashion blog, sooooo on to the clothes...
Saturday we celebrated our five year wedding anniversary with margaritas at Salena's outdoor bar and dinner at Good Luck. So delish! Here is what I wore:
For Father's Day we laid low. Went to church, cleaned out the garage, dinner at TGI Fridays, and shopping at BJ's wholesale... ahhh the glamourous life I lead!
Despite it being hump day and the week being half over...how was your weekend? Any exciting plans for this weekend coming up? I think it's time to BBQ with some friends...drinks on the deck, anyone?

Five Years
My husband and I were married five years ago today. Wow! I can't believe how fast it has gone by. I sit here, two beautiful little boys later and think: It's even better than I dreamed. God is so good. We really are so blessed.
Every year we watch our wedding video together on our anniversary. It's one of my favorite things to do; to look back on the day when I married my best friend, the love of my life, my whole world. It was my fairytale, my dream come true. And I'd love to share it with all of you.
Our wedding song was "Bless the Broken Road" - so fitting and so true.
Love you Steve! Would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Happy Anniversary!

"Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you"
Love you Steve! Would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Happy Anniversary!

Back to Basics
I love, love, love H&M for basic pieces. Their styles are on trend and affordable, which I consider a win-win. I went to the mall the other day for some t-shirts. All the ones I own are from a few years ago and the cuts just don't work anymore; most of them are too short or too fitted or just plain old and ratty.
I head to H&M. One hour, one crying baby, and one big shopping bag later I had spent $166 and this is what I ended up with:
Have you hit the mall lately? What new pieces are you dying to add to your wardrobe? When you do update your closet, do you prefer to splurge on one or two big ticket items? Or go the bargain route for a large variety of trendy pieces?
I head to H&M. One hour, one crying baby, and one big shopping bag later I had spent $166 and this is what I ended up with:
6 T shirts, 3 tanks, 1 sleeveless blouse, 1 dress, 1 knit long sleeve top, 2 necklaces, 1 bracelet Not bad for under $200!!! |
Love these neon statement necklaces! |

Sunday Stylings
Yesterday was a perfect upstate New York summer day (and it's technically not even summer yet: bonus!) Here is what I wore for a morning at church followed by some fun in the sun:
Forever 21 dress, Anthropologie belt, Michael Kors watch, Forever 21 bangles, Mossimo for Target shoes, Acute Designs earrings, Forever 21 sunglasses |
Earring closup |
Beach
Cowboy hat (that my husband made fun of me for buying 6 years ago but I still love it), Acute Designs earrings, Old Navy bathing suit, Forever 21 sunglasses |
I can not for the life of me remember where I bought that sarong... |
Some Instagram Shots
Sodus Point Light House |
Me and Cooper, The Coop Deck ha!, A pirate for Colten (Captain Jacks), Me and Colt |
My crew at dinner at Abe's. The food was pretty terrible, but we had a nice view of the water... |

Shabby Apple
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon Shabby Apple, an online dress boutique selling women’s dresses, casual dresses, skirts, and women’s apparel. I love the vintage and feminine feel of the clothes on this site and as I researched more about the company I started to like Shabby Apple even more.
They credit themselves as providing "a return to what dresses were always meant to be — a one-piece outfit. No need to add anything...no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!)."
Their modest fashions strive to make women feel feminine and beautiful for "what they wear, not what they bare." (Love that!) Not only can their flirty, stylish dresses be worn comfortably anywhere, but they also donate a certain percentage of their net proceeds to charitable causes serving women and children. Couture with a conscience; how cool is that?

If the principles behind the company aren't enough to make you want to shop with them, their merchandise will. Here are some of the Shabby Apple pieces I am loving right now:
Walk the Plank Dress $88 |
Pina Colada Dress $96 |
Joy Ride Dress on sale for $58 |
Heart of Me Dress $109 |
Blue Eyes Dress $96 |
FYI: Shabby Apple offers free shipping on orders over $100 and fast and free returns! I'm always hesitant to order clothes online without being able to try them on, but the free returns let me shop worry-free. Now I just need to figure out what I want to buy....
What do you think I should get?
