Two for Tuesday: Polka Dots and Animal Spots

Think you can pair animal prints with polka dots and not look like the crazy cat lady?

I'm about to tell you that you can.

I say, rock those polka dots and animal spots.  I also say thank God for Hilary Rushford and #stylemeoctober.  How did I ever get dressed all by myself?

Todays look:
Earrings: c/o Aldo
Sweater:  Kmart
Necklace:  Claire Flair
Bracelets:  Stella and Dot, JCrew, Jewelry by Lindsay, and thrifted
Watch:  Michael Kors
Jeans:  Forever 21
Shoes:  GAP
Nail Decals:  Forever 21 (peeled right off - I recommend Sephora brand instead)
Want to know the best part about this outfit?  Total cost (not including jewelry) =  $33.00!!!  People, I am rounding up!  I paid $18 for the sweater, $8 for the jeans, and $7 for the shoes.

Let me teach you my ways.  Hire me as your personal shopper.

How do you feel about mixing animal prints and polka dots?  Cute? Or Ca-razy?  You don't need to tell me how you feel about a $33 outfit - I know you love it ;).

xoxo

Ten Years of Dots

Polka.  Dots.  A certain little polka dot skirt from The Limited to be exact.  A skirt I've been rocking for the last ten years.  Ten.  Count 'em.

Sure she's a little big on me right now, but she still looks cute belted.  She's a classic.  A wardrobe staple.  This little lady's been mistaken for PRADA for crying out loud!  (True. Story.)   After all we've been through together,  I don't think I could ever let her go.  You can't Goodwill memories people!  This little skirt and I are friends for life.

Here are some highlights of our journey together.

2003 - Opia NYC -  Jeree's 21st Birthday Bash:

With the Birthday Girl
Limited halter and skirt, Coach bag (my first!), my favorite white gold hoops,
Movado watch (another item I still wear and love).
 Charles David shoes (not pictured).
Love that after all this time I can still call these fabulous people my friends.
When you've been friends with someone for over 25 years you can get away with censoring an accidental boob shot.
Sure, she's going to want to kill me, but she can't get rid of me now.
Like the polka dot skirt, we have too much history.
2006 - Central Park - Stevie Pops the Question

Yes, that's the exact moment he proposed.
We had just seen The Phantom of the Opera, had a carriage ride through the park, and were taking a walk.
He takes out a disposable camera and asks some poor girl sitting on a bench doing her homework to take our picture.
I go to pose, and before I know it, he's on his knee, said girl is gasping and clicking away, and I'm saying "YES!"
Good.  Stuff.
2013 - Upstate New York - Easter Sunday Best

Detail Shots
The Skinny on my Outfit:
Francesca's earrings, Flea Market Girl necklace, H&M top and sweater, Limited skirt,
anthropologie belt, Hue tights, Target wedges
I need to buy some clothes that fit STAT.

What's one item in your closet that you will never get rid of?

Have a great weekend kiddos,

xoxo

Don't Be That Guy

Remember PCU?  (I'm really showing my age here aren't I?)

Let me refresh your memory (or if you're under 30 you can watch it for the first time).  Either way watch this before you read any further:

I committed Fashion's version of this.

It all happened right here:

I walked in wearing this:

Oh yes, wearing a t-shirt and cropped polka dot skinnies that were both purchased from this EXACT location four days prior.

And you want to know what I did?

I bought another one of the SAME EXACT t-shirt.  (Yes, same color and everything).  And another pair of the SAME pants (only this time in black).  The sales associate actually looked me up and down as she rang me up and said:  "You know you are wearing this shirt right now."  My reply:  "Yeah I know, I really like it."  Sure, I could have explained that I don't live in Florida and that I wanted one tee to keep at my parents house down there and one to bring home to upstate New York, and at $5 a pop I would buy it in every color if they weren't sold out.  I just didn't think she needed that much of an explanation.

I have to tell you: I did feel a little bit like the GAP Outlet Superfan walking around the store like that.  And it's still bugging me...

What do you think?  Can you wear the clothes of the store you're going to shop in?  Or is it the equivalent of wearing the tee of the band you are going to see?  Fashion faux pas?  Or perfectly acceptable?

I'm dying to know.

Thanks for helping me clear this up.

Polka Dots Are Having a Moment

I'm loving polka dots lately.

I just bought this denim polka dot capris at Target and have already worn them twice.

Denim on Denim:
Madewell sunglasses, Forever 21 earrings, JC Penney Chambray blouse,
Michael Kors watch, Target Merona skinnies, Target ballet flats

Simple White Tee:

Madewell sunglasses, Forever 21 earrings and necklace, GAP tee, Louis Vuitton purse, Michael Kors watch,
Target Merona capris, Lucky wedges

What about you?  Any trends you're loving lately?

I don't ever want to leave Florida.  It's sunny here every day.  Craziness.

Love you like I love sunshiney days,

xoxo

Hi! My Name is Jenny and I'm a Shopaholic

I've been doing some shopping down here in Florida...

Now that I'm a personal shopper I have a little extra cash to spend on myself, which, I have to say, is pretty nice.  I can't believe I figured out a way to get paid to shop!  It's like my lifelong dream has finally come true and its FAN-TASTIC!

Here are some of my spoils from my latest shopping victories:

Madewell Sunglasses
Madewell Bow Ring
Madewell Cut Off Denim Shorts
Target Polka Dot Denim Capris
H&M Zip Cardigan and Long Sleeve Tee

I'm officially obsessed with my Madewell ring and sunnies.  I've decided they need to open a store in Rochester stat.  Am I right?

What about you?  Been shopping lately?  What's your favorite new purchase?

xoxo

Guilty Pleasures

Everyone has guilty pleasures, right?  I, for one, could lose an ENTIRE day watching Sex and the City reruns.  I enjoy a good buffet and wear drug store makeup.  I read tabloid magazines, love sour patch kids, and there was a point in my life when I dunked cheese doodles in chocolate pudding (thankfully this was just a phase and sadly it wasn't when I was pregnant).

When it comes to fashion, my guilty pleasure is Forever21.  The blaring dance music, synthetic fabrics, way-too-bright fluorescent lighting, and the fact that I am usually the oldest person in the store should make me question my desire to shop there, but it doesn't.  I look the other way because the clothes are cute and they are CHEAP!  Plus, there is something cathartic about digging through racks overloaded with merchandise while trying not to run over 90 pound teenage girls with my stroller.  It's my go-to place for basic T's, skinny jeans, fun tops, accessories and trendy pieces.  Who cares if its out of style next year?  At these prices, you add a few trendy pieces each season without breaking the bank.

The thing about Forever 21 is that they carry limited stock, so if you see something you like you have to jump on it.  When I saw this vintage-inspired blue polka dot dress, I grabbed it right away.  I paid full price: a whopping $27.80!
A.D.D. Moment:  Was this chick on Top Model a few years ago?

I'll be wearing it this summer with another guilty pleasure of mine:   a seven-year-old pair of Target cowboy boots.  The hubs says it's a great "Corn Hill Festival outfit" - I couldn't agree more! :)  Now if only I can get my hands on some cheese doodles and pudding...
