DASH Miami

Is it any surprise that when I was in South Beach I had to check out DASH Miami?  

Didn't think so...

As a personal shopper for Sears, I sell a lot of Kardashian Kollection items, so I thought it only right to do a little "market research" and check out their boutique.  I'm not going to lie, I wanted to see if they carried any items from their own line (currently sold at Sears) in their boutique.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did carry Kardashian Kollection in addition to many other labels.

All in all, I was impressed with the store.  I was expecting crazy-expensive prices, but was pleasantly surprised that most items were within reach.  Lucky for me, the entire store was 15% off, so I picked up a DV by Dolce Vita dress.

I kept my styling simple, pairing it with my Lucky wedges and Louis Vuitton pouchette.

It was a little chilly that night, so I threw on my faux leather Buffalo jacket.

Sorry the picture quality is so bad.  One of these days I should actually invest in a real camera.  This husband with my iphone crap isn't really cutting it.

Just In Case Summer Never Comes

I've been itching to wear this strapless Maple geo-printed silk dress that I got on sale at Anthropologie:

I decided to wear it to ROC the Runway, but that night it was 37 and sleeting.  Boo!  Have no fear!  Some tights and a cardi and I was good to go!

This whole cardi/tights mantra works with shorts too.  (This was very popular last fall).  I haven't tried it out yet, but if this weather sticks I might have to!  Its a great versatile look that can be dressed up or down.

New Obsession: Dado Boutique

Finally got in to Dado's new store in Clover Commons on Monroe Ave.  It is beautiful!  I can't believe I had never shopped there before.  The owner is a doll!  I had a fabulous time shopping; it felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. 

Oh and what a selection!  She carries a variety of brands at a variety of price points.  I loved everything, but finally decided to try on these three dresses:

Everything was beautiful.  Unfortunately, I'm a mom on a budget and could not buy everything.  I finally decided on this MM Couture by Miss Me One-Shoulder Floral Dress.  The multicolor floral print vertical corkscrew ruffles on the skirt are so pretty. Love that it can be tied in the back to create an almost cap sleeve effect, so I'll be wearing mine a little different from the model below.  I like it tied a little looser so that it covers my one shoulder.

I can't wait to wear it.  It will be making its debut in NYC in a few weeks with dark tights (it's short!) and sling back peep toes that I got at the Nine West Outlet for $12.50.  When I tried it on for my husband he said: "This might be your best dress yet."  That's all the feedback I need!   I'll be sure to post some pics of my night out on the town in my new dress from Dado!  Stay tuned.

Too Pretty for PJs?

I'm OBSESSED with Anthropologie.  In a perfect world, I would win the lottery, and then proceed to buy everything in the store. Since their prices are a tad steep for my near negligible budget, I am constantly stalking their sale rack.  (The Eastview store does markdowns every other Tuesday).  I got this Eloise "Under the Rug" chemise on sale for $29.50.  It's sold out online, but they had two or three on the rack as of Wednesday.  

I realize that technically this is meant to be "lounge wear," but I'll be wearing it out.  It is definitely too pretty to be housebound, besides I think my flannel jammies would get jealous if I started sleeping in this!

Guilty Pleasures

Everyone has guilty pleasures, right?  I, for one, could lose an ENTIRE day watching Sex and the City reruns.  I enjoy a good buffet and wear drug store makeup.  I read tabloid magazines, love sour patch kids, and there was a point in my life when I dunked cheese doodles in chocolate pudding (thankfully this was just a phase and sadly it wasn't when I was pregnant).

When it comes to fashion, my guilty pleasure is Forever21.  The blaring dance music, synthetic fabrics, way-too-bright fluorescent lighting, and the fact that I am usually the oldest person in the store should make me question my desire to shop there, but it doesn't.  I look the other way because the clothes are cute and they are CHEAP!  Plus, there is something cathartic about digging through racks overloaded with merchandise while trying not to run over 90 pound teenage girls with my stroller.  It's my go-to place for basic T's, skinny jeans, fun tops, accessories and trendy pieces.  Who cares if its out of style next year?  At these prices, you add a few trendy pieces each season without breaking the bank.

The thing about Forever 21 is that they carry limited stock, so if you see something you like you have to jump on it.  When I saw this vintage-inspired blue polka dot dress, I grabbed it right away.  I paid full price: a whopping $27.80!

A.D.D. Moment:  Was this chick on Top Model a few years ago?

I'll be wearing it this summer with another guilty pleasure of mine:   a seven-year-old pair of Target cowboy boots.  The hubs says it's a great "Corn Hill Festival outfit" - I couldn't agree more! :)  Now if only I can get my hands on some cheese doodles and pudding...
