Made in America Monday: KOKOON

Have you heard about KOKOON?  (Me either until just recently - I can't believe I had no idea about this amazing company!  Thank God USA Love List is there to keep me informed about all the best brands that are made in the USA!)

KOKOON is a "boutique without borders;" a modern, private pop-up boutique, that brings their contemporary clothing line to women via private appointments and in-home trunk shows.  Think:  a high end boutique coming to you, not a tupperware party, or worse, a makeup lady trying to recruit you to sell lipstick!  (Come on, you KNOW what I'm talking about!)  KOKOON stands by the principles of  No Presentations, No Speeches, No Recruiting Tactics, No Multi-Level Marketing - just bringing the [made in the USA] boutique to you.

Owner and Designer Laine Sou Weinberg says, “I thought a traveling, private boutique could be an amazing shopping experience if it was done properly. I know what makes me uncomfortable with home trunk shows and I assumed other women felt the same. So, we took the cringe factor out of ‘home parties’ and developed a concept that we and everyone associated with us could be proud of.”

Want to hear some great news?  KOKOON's Twice Yearly Online Sale and Clearance event is going on right now!   You don't need to put on makeup or dust your living room for this party!  There are literally hundreds of limited edition and one-of-a-kind women’s items that are proudly designed and manufactured in the U.S.A.  available to you at 30% to 90% off retail prices.  Ah-mazing!  You can check out the sale now here.

PS:
About KOKOON founder Laine Sou Weinberg:

Laine Sou Weinberg started KOKOON in 1987 when her then-boyfriend-now-husband, Richard Weinberg, took her first sample line on a cross country road trip and returned with her first retail store orders. Soon after, the fledgling company landed their first major chain store order. That led to many years of successful retail and catalog relationships which included Nordstrom, Bloomies by Mail, Dayton Hudson, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Fred Segal, White House Black Market, and over 1400 boutiques.

Two for Tuesday: Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are a staple in my summer wardrobe.

Here are two fab maxis (both from Kmart and both purchased on sale for under $20.)  Eat your heart out and be super jeal of my superb money-saving skills.

1.  Attention Women's Maxi Dress - Medallion
I cut off the belt loops and wore the belt at my natural waist instead of empire style.

 2.  Attention Women's Smocked Top Maxi Dress
I removed the neck strap to make it a strapless dress.

Want me to help you look fab for $20 or less?  Hire me as your personal shopper.  It's free - and a lot of fun. Let's do it!

DASH Miami

Is it any surprise that when I was in South Beach I had to check out DASH Miami?

Didn't think so...

As a personal shopper for Sears, I sell a lot of Kardashian Kollection items, so I thought it only right to do a little "market research" and check out their boutique.  I'm not going to lie, I wanted to see if they carried any items from their own line (currently sold at Sears) in their boutique.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that they did carry Kardashian Kollection in addition to many other labels.

All in all, I was impressed with the store.  I was expecting crazy-expensive prices, but was pleasantly surprised that most items were within reach.  Lucky for me, the entire store was 15% off, so I picked up a DV by Dolce Vita dress.
Posing with my new purchase outside the store.
A week later wearing my DV by Dolce Vita dress from DASH in St. Augustine
I kept my styling simple, pairing it with my Lucky wedges and Louis Vuitton pouchette.
In the lobby of the Casa Monica Hotel...
It was a little chilly that night, so I threw on my faux leather Buffalo jacket.

Sorry the picture quality is so bad.  One of these days I should actually invest in a real camera.  This husband with my iphone crap isn't really cutting it.

How do you like my purchase?  Have you ever been to DASH Miami?  What did you think?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Some of My Best Work

If you know me, you know that I love a good deal.  I shop sales.  I use coupons.  I double those coupons.  I stack coupons on top of sales on top of rewards points.  Now, you won't see me on Extreme Couponing anytime soon with a shopping cart full of hot sauce (who wants 60 bottles of hot sauce anyway?) but you will see me scouring clearance bins, deal websites, and sale racks with the best of them.

For your viewing pleasure, my latest shopping victory:

That's right kids, six pairs of earrings for one dollar.  That has to be some kind of record...

Not only were they cheap, but they are pretty freaking fantastic, if I do say so myself.  I've been wearing them all the time!  The geometric designs are so on-trend and the variety of silver, yellow gold, and rose gold, means they go with EVERYTHING I own.  I'm obsessed.
Jealous?

I've got good news and bad news.

Bad news:  if you live in Rochester, I'm pretty sure both H&M locations have already closed.  Bummer.

Good news: if you don't live in Rochester, you can get your cute little tushy over to your closest H&M and grab them before they sell out.  Now, you may not be able to score them for a dollar (pretty sure that was part of a going out of business sale) but even at full price (a whopping $5.95) these babies are a steal and something you will wear over and over again.

I'm wearing mine right now...

What about you?  Get any good deals lately?  Please share!

Love you like I love dollar earrings,

xoxo

Spanx You Very Much

Look out, I am about to mention your unmentionables: Spanx. Sara Blakely, the creator of Spanx made it "her mission to make the world a better place, one butt at a time" and I thank God every day she took on such a noble cause.

There are many different brands of shapewear out there, but Spanx is, by far, the best on the market. All the celebrities wear them - so even if you can't have their personal trainers and macrobiotic diets, you can wear their girdles! I discovered Spanx a few years ago and am not sure how I ever lived without them. They are miracle workers: getting rid of lumps, bumps, and pantylines to give you a smoother, firmer look.

I went to SoLia Boutique in Pittsford today to pick up my Skinny Britches, Spanx's line of summer shapewear. I already have what I refer to as my "industrial strength" Spanx, but they are a little much for the warmer months. Today's 80 degree temperatures prompted me to make a beeline to SoLia for my skinny britches!  They have some adorable dresses in right now, so you might want to take a look at those while you are there. You'll need something fabulous to wear over your Spanx, right?  If you're a girl on a budget, your Spanx will be the best $42 you ever spend.  I mean, why spend a fortune on a new wardrobe, when you can look thinner and smoother in the one you already have? It's a no-brainer!

So if you are ready to say "bye bye muffin top," "au revoir cellulite,"and "get lost VPL," get your Spanx at SoLia Boutique on Monroe Ave in Pittsford.  And if you needed some addition motivation, their Royal Sale starts tomorrow:

I am totally geeking out over the royal wedding.  Anyone else with me?

Don't live in Rochester? That's ok! Thank God for Amazon:

What are you waiting for? Go get your Spanx! Dare to dimple no more! Happy Smoothing!

Outnet $2 Birthday Sale Victory

The Outnet $2 Birthday Sale was by far one of the most exciting shopping experiences of my life.  I (of course) made a virtual beeline for the bags (which were selling out faster than I could click) then I went for shoes  (same result).  So my third plan of attack was dresses, fell in love with a Valentino gown:  sold out.  Then I spotted this Matthew Williamson printed cotton maxi dress.  I am loving maxi dresses right now and this one is just so wearable.  It my hysteria I can't remember the original retail price, but it was somewhere around $1200 - and I paid $2 for it!  There was even free shipping!  This high should carry me through the rest of the weekend.

Big thanks to all of you who registered to win a ticket to the sale with my link.  I only earned a ticket because I was a top 200 sharer, so I have all of you to thank.  I can't wait to get it and try it on - keep your fingers crossed that it fits.  If not, ebay here we come!
