Date Night Closet Remix

You don't need to break the bank to ramp up your date night wardrobe.  Chances are, there are some pretty fabulous pieces already in your closet.  I love mixing old pieces to create something new.  I bought this skirt two years ago to wear to a baby shower and art show.  I paired it with heeled sandals, a tank, and black wooden jewelry.

Fast forward to last night:  Dado Fashion Show...

I took the same skirt and put on a long sleeve Express crew neck tee and bright Hue tights to create a whole new look.  I added some vintage jewelry, my new Buffalo motorcycle jacket, a Kate Spade bag and my favorite Nine West peep toe booties.   Voila!  Now I've got a fall look that's a little edgy, a little fun, and a bold pop of color to boot!  The only new items (bought this season) were the tights and the jacket.  So for around $100, I completely updated my date night wardrobe.

What do you think?  Suitable for a night out on the town?  Or should this ensemble have stayed in the back of my closet?

What's your go-to date night look?

I'm Down With NYC

Hey New Jersey, I'm baaaaaack!  After not being home for almost a year, it feels great to be back for a visit.  The hubs and I drove down yesterday morning, dropped the kids off at grandma's, and headed into the city for dinner and a show.  My best friend and her husband live in Midtown, so we met them at Lime Jungle for some mexican and $5 'ritas and then headed to the Nederlander Theatre for Newsies!

I'm not going to lie, I was super excited.  I probably watched Newsies 6,000 times as a kid.  This is back when I was in love with Christian Bale (who's kidding who? I still am) and had delusions about being a broadway star despite the fact that I'm tone deaf (ok that might still be true too).  Needless to say, I've been looking forward to this show (and having a babysitter!) for weeks.  After trying on ten different outfits this is what I decided on:

H&M top, a.n.a pants via JC Penney, Kate Spade bag, Michael Kors watch,
J.Crew necklace, Forever 21 sunglasses, Nine West shoes
Arm Party:  Jewelry by Lindsay, vintage,  J.Crew

Here I am.
Starting to get awkward.
Things have officially broken down.  This is my Broadway pose.
And we're walking...

The show far exceeded my expectations.  I loved every second.  And after twenty years, I'm still in love with Jack Kelly and still get heart pangs watching the actors on stage.  Seeing their joy during curtain calls just made me ache for that adrenaline rush.  I think being a performer is in your blood.  It's definitely in mine and I need to find a way back to the stage.  Maybe in five years when Cooper is in kindergarten...but that's another story for another day.

Here's some more pictures from the evening:

Intermission with the hubs.
Sometimes I wear glasses.  (Usually when I want to see stuff).
Sometimes I take them off for photos so I can look pretty for instagram...and facebook...
and twitter... and my blog... and just in case anyone pins it...

All in all it was a great night spent doing what I love with people I love.  Win.  Win.

What did you do this weekend?  Hope it was fabulous!

I've got brunch tomorrow with the girlies!  Can't wait!

xoxo

Kiss Me Kate!

Happy Birthday to me!   Happy Birthday to me!  Happy Birthday to meeee-heeee!  Happy Birthday to me!

Ok so my birthday isn't actually until next week, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start shopping for my present(s).

For those of you living under a rock, Kate Spade is having a sample sale!  Up to 75% off!!!  Don't dilly dally, quantities are limited and the sale ends Thursday.

Ahhh "75% off"- If that isn't music to my ears, I don't know what is.  Especially seeing as I do not own a Kate.  I know, weird, right?  Well that is all about to change because when I found out that on top of sample sale prices and $5 flat rate shipping, I could get an extra 3.5% cash back by shopping through ebates...I couldn't resist.

I bought the La Casita Camden in black.  It retailed for $425, but I paid $189.  Now, I use the term "I" loosely - my mom bought it for me for my birthday  (cue the happy birthday song).  It was a great deal and it is gorgeous.  I've been looking for a black satchel for a while and this one was just screaming my name.  I mean we are talking smooth shiny goathide with matching trim, 14K gold plated hardware, the most adorable lining, and five exterior zipper pockets!

Seriously, look at it.  Don't you love it?

Do you want one too?  Get yours here.
How cute is the lining?!

I can't wait for my bag to arrive!!!  I love bags - they hold your stuff, keep you organized, and no matter how much chocolate you eat, they always fit.  It's the perfect birthday gift!

What about you?  Buy yourself any good presents lately?
